Large Hadron Collider Seeks Higgs Boson [and Eman?]

Physicists will collide protons in October in a supercooled magnet tunnel tube that is 17 miles around and 350 feet below the borders of Switzerland and France. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)[don't ask why the acronym does not fit the organization name]. The facility cost about $6 billion to build. It is funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories. Remember the USA cancelled its planned Superconducting Super Collider in Texas.

It is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson. The verification of the existence of the Higgs boson would be a significant step in the search for a Grand Unified Theory, which seeks to unify three of the four known fundamental forces: electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force, leaving out only gravity. The Higgs boson may also help to explain why gravitation is so weak compared to the other three forces. In addition to the Higgs boson, other theorized novel particles that might be produced, and for which searches[4] are planned, include strangelets, micro black holes, magnetic monopoles and supersymmetric particles. An excellent perspective article, we need more collider updates! Notice: There is a personal CERN LHC - Public Opinion Poll & Debate, at the direct web-link below. Everyone is welcome to attend, but due to malware prevention, must be registered to Vote, or 'reply' comment. The objectives of this forum are, to provide a healthy debate atmosphere, and to create a time-capsule for future generations. The statistic results shall be forwarded to CERN top officials, and even to Stephen Hawking (if his staff will forward to him). I have placed myself as a 'neutral observer', in order to be fair and impartial. The worldwide incoming 'reply' comments, with the main-body debate statement, become the debate. The poll closes October 17, 2008, so pass it on, and get the word out. Thank you for your support, and don't forget to Vote!

Man's technology has exceeded his grasp. - 'The World is not Enough'
Nobel Prize hungry Physicists are racing each other and stopping at nothing to try to find the supposed 'Higgs Boson'(aka 'God') Particle, among others, and are risking nothing less than the annihilation of the Earth and all Life in endless EXPERIMENTS to try to solve theoretical problems when urgent real problems face the planet. The European Organization for Nuclear Research(CERN) new Large Hadron Collider(LHC) is the world's most powerful atom smasher that will soon be firing subatomic particles at each other at nearly the speed of light to create Miniature Big Bangs producing clouds of Micro Black Holes, Strangelets and other potentially cataclysmic phenomena.
CERN physicist Alvaro De Rújula in the BBC LHC documentary, 'The Six Billion Dollar Experiment', incredibly admits quote, "Will we find the Higgs particle at the LHC? That, of course, is the question. And the answer is, science is what we do when we don't know what we're doing." And CERN spokesmodel Brian Cox follows with this stunning quote, "the LHC is certainly, by far, the biggest jump into the unknown."
The CERN-LHC website Mainpage itself states quote: "There are many theories as to what will result from these collisions,..." This stunning admission is because they truly don't know what's going to happen. They are experimenting with forces they don't understand to obtain results they can't comprehend. If you think like most people do that 'They must know what they're doing.' you could not be more wrong. Some people think the same thing about medical Dr.s but consider this by way of comparison and example from JAMA: "A recent Institute of Medicine report quoted rates estimating that medical errors kill between 44,000 and 98,000 people a year in US hospitals." The second part of the quote reads "...but what's for sure is that a brave new world of physics will emerge from the new accelerator,..." A molecularly changed or Black Hole consumed Lifeless World? The end of the quote reads "as knowledge in particle physics goes on to describe the workings of the Universe." These experiments to date have so far produced infinitely more questions than answers but there isn't a particle experimentalist physicist alive who wouldn't gladly trade his life to glimpse the "God particle", and sacrifice the rest of us with him.
This quote from National Geographic exactly sums this "science" up: "That's the essence of experimental particle physics: You smash stuff together and see what other stuff comes out."

The acronym does fit the organization name. What you are reading is a translation of the proper name, which is in French.
